Work with the AI assistant

The AI assistant helps turn a footage request into searches and a candidate list. Give it the outcome you need, the collection it should use, and the details that matter visually. Treat its suggestions as material to review before making an editing or publishing decision.

Prepare the footage first

Import the source videos and complete AI understanding before asking for semantic retrieval. Keep ShotAI open, the account signed in, and the source media accessible. A request to search a newly imported video may arrive before that video's indexing has finished.

Open the Agent area in ShotAI to make a request. If you are using a separate connected agent, connection and available tools depend on that integration. A tutorial or adapter for one client does not establish compatibility with every assistant.

Give the request a clear shape

Include four things: the collection, the visible content, the amount of material you want, and the next action. For example:

Search only “Autumn campaign” for close-ups of hands opening the product. Return up to five candidates with the source video, start and end times, and a short explanation. Prepare a list for review before exporting.

The collection keeps the task tied to the right project. Visible criteria make the choices checkable. A small candidate count keeps review manageable. Stating the next action distinguishes a search from a request to create files.

For a broader brief, ask for separate visual roles:

In “City B-roll,” find candidates for an opening wide shot, a street-level detail, and a quiet closing image. Group the results by role and explain which part of each request they match.

These are example prompts, not promises that the required footage exists. If a collection or condition cannot be confirmed, resolve it before widening the task.

Review the result with the assistant

Ask for the source and range of each candidate, then open the footage. Confirm the important conditions yourself. Agent searches may expose looser candidates than the regular search interface, so the presence of a result is not proof of a strong match.

The assistant can help with search, shot details, similar-shot discovery, and supported export operations. It cannot establish a client's approval, a license, or a person's identity merely from visual similarity. A related spoken topic is also different from verified word-for-word dialogue with precise speech timing.

Make exports explicit

Once the choices are reviewed, specify which shots to export, the output type, and the destination. Check the exported files or timeline in your editing application. See Review and export for the current limits around whole-shot ranges, audio, and frame rate.

This workflow is useful for finding material and preparing a simple handoff. It does not establish a complete autonomous editing system with finished pacing, sound, titles, approval, and publication.
